- We know that we are of God, and the whole world is in the power of the evil one.
1 John 5:19 -
 any Christians do not seem to see
the City of Man for what it truly is. Many spend their efforts fighting
the results that the City of Man produces, but they never turn their attention
to the City itself. They fight against abortion, sexual immorality, and the suppression
of religious freedoms, but they never seem to notice the philosophical/religious
system that is responsible for all those evils.
Even more numerous are the Christians
who don't seem to realize that they are in the middle of a war. They apparently think
that they can have peace with the kingdom of this world.
There can be no such peace, whether we would have it or not. The Kingdom of this world
will not rest while the City of God has any foothold on this earth. The City of God is
a beacon of light and freedom in the midst of the darkness and slavery, justice and truth
in the midst of corruption and deceit, peace and love, amidst war and hate. As long as
the City of God exists in this earth, the domination of evil will never be complete. The
Kingdom of this world will not hold complete dominion. The City of Man desires to subjugate
all men, to bring them all captive under its dominion. Those who cannot be captured by
lusts will be captured by deceit, and those who cannot be captured by deceit will be
destroyed.
